Heres a shot from this evening (Jan 3 14).
It was -23c with windchill at -30 here on the north shore of Lake Ontario near Wellington Ontario.
But it was as clear as a bell, and once the moon set (and that was pretty on its own) I hoped to catch some Quadrantids.
I had not tried shooting this meteor shower before, and I could see why tonight.
It is always so darn cold at this time of year. But from my backyard, I had AC power, so I could use the AC adapter and dew(frost) heater.
I took a lot of frames, but only one meteor caught.
I had the good fortune of seeing this one naked eye, so I can confirm the direction and that it is indeed a Quadrantid meteor trail.
