Initially, the aurora was visible as a a green band from 8pm until 9. then it flared red with vertex moving from the north until it was right overhead between 9 and 9:45 EDT. With Tony we drove into the country hoping to find some aurora away from city lights. What we found blew us away, it was a once in a lifetime experience, and was by far my best aurora experience ever. The colour variations were incredible, there were reds that were deep and crimson, there was orange, even peach tint, as well as beautiful greens. The most amazing aurora of my life!
